biennials.ch provides information on Switzerland‘s current and past contributions to the Art and Architecture Biennials of Venice and Cairo. Since 1920 Switzerland has taken part every two years in the Arts Biennial in Venice, reputed to be the most important international platform for contemporary art. Since 1991 it has also been present at the International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, which enjoys a worldwide reputation. And since 1988 Switzerland has participated in the major event of the Arab art world with a contribution to the Arts Biennial of Cairo. The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia is responsible for the organisation and implementation of Switzerland’s participation.
